I am looking for a few good shows featuring Joan Osborne (with Phil and Friends I presume...). Any recommendations in terms of sound and performance? If it had a New Speedway Boogie that would be an added plus. Thanks in advance...

Brings back memories. I had an ex-gf who had me take her to see Billy Idol (Blech!) and FNM was the opener. They played "Easy" that night.

Mike Patton has no fear of what he sings onstage; from the "N-E-S-T-L-E-S" jingle to "I Started a Joke" from the early Bee Gees.

Faith No More opened for Billy Joel

isn't that a bit cross-genre and cross-generational???

Somehow the promoter had dollar signs in his eyes.

Heck, I once saw Emmylou Harris open for Joe Walsh. (I fell for her.)

Not a big fan but i saw her in 03 with "the Dead" and her doing caution was pretty cool in what otherwise was a pretty dull show

9/21/03 @ The Gorge?

one reviewer said...the '03 line-up at their best. Joan Osborne is sensuous and hillarious during "Caution"

Lesh and Friends: Live at the Warfield is well worth it. The Help is my fav version of that song.

A bunch of vids,

A tasty one,

There is a 'Best of Joan w/ Phil' out there on ll or etree.

Best female singer to sing their music. By far.

E- Donna Jean in the '70s w/ JGB gets equally high marks.

I find this Ryan Adams number from a 2005 P&F show absolutely compelling - her vocals enhance a beautiful song.

I wanted to say the 2004 Red Rox shows, but they are not
available at IA. The whole 'get, or ship the show' on disc afterwards was really big then.
Notice the drop off from 2000-02 to 2003-04. ugh

SO the 2006 show is the only B-day show I think exists here.
The 2004 version is the boys wishes for her with no lyrics,
just subtle nuances which the crowd roars to with love.
If you are interested in obtaining those compilation discs,
I might be able to scare them up. http://www.archive.org/details/plf2006-07-08.spyder9.flac16

edit- these dont suck either if you can get em:

(search Phil and Friends with DVD video)
